Lady Gaga's Super Bowl LI halftime performance was absolutely flawless, but it was the beginning of her elaborate set that had the internet buzzing — it was full of drones!

Just toward the end of her opening singing number, a massive wall of drones lit up in the skies behind her in the shape and color of the United States flag, and it was awesome.

We knew weeks ago that drones would be a part of her performance, but only now do we know that the flying robots would be used to send a message of patriotism during the country's most-watched sports event.

Powering the massive display of air robotic superiority was Intel and its Shooting Star drone fleet. Based on the reception from viewers commenting on social media, the drones were a hit.

Last year, Intel set the Guinness World Record for the Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with 500 drones dancing in unison in the sky.

For the Super Bowl, Intel reportedly used hundreds of drones (no exact figure yet), but we can be fairly sure that they were the only ones at the Super Bowl since the FAA made the Super Bowl a "no drone zone" for the event.

Now that entertainment drones have officially performed without a hitch on the biggest stage ever, expect to see a lot more flying robots incorporated into major performances.
