If you've been out drinking recently and have gotten unusually trashed by just one gin and tonic, it's not because you're suddenly a lightweight.

CNNMoneyreports that Canadian health authorities have called for a nationwide recall of Bombay Sapphire gin after discovering bottles containing nearly double the advertised amount of alcohol.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency found a "small" number of 1.1 liter bottles containing 77 percent alcohol by volume rather than the typical 40 percent. Now, to some, that might not sound like such a problem. Getting more drunk by buying less drinks? Score! But that is a lotof alcohol. And yes, even alcohol can contain too much alcohol.

Although there are no reports of anyone becoming sick from drinking the gin, the agency warned consumers to throw out or return bottles. Following a further food safety investigation, other products may be recalled as well.

Bacardi, the private firm that makes Bombay Sapphire, said the recall was launched after "an isolated consumer complaint and subsequent quality assurance checks." The gin comprises 8 percent of Bacardi's global sales, and has been experiencing double-digit sales growth over the past few years.

If Bombay Sapphire is your gin of choice, maybe switch it up a little bit next time you're at the bar. After all, you want gin, not rubbing alcohol.
