Earlier this month, Uber announced free and discounted rides to Walgreens pharmacies for COVID-19 vaccination shots. This week Lyft announced something similar, but to CVS locations.
Lyft will provide free or discounted rides to vaccination appointments at CVS Health community clinics. These clinics will open in March and April in mobile vaccination vans and at other locations, in an effort to make the nationwide inoculation campaign more accessible. Lyft will share more about vaccination clinic locations and availability in the coming weeks.
CVS is working with the YMCA and other nonprofit groups to set up sites and select locations for the vans.
Lyft will help people get to those community sites and vans, which are not the same as CVS pharmacy locations. Ride discounts and free codes will be distributed through organizations Lyft works with through the LyftUp initiative. Lyft has pledged to provide 60 million rides to vaccination appointments for low-income, uninsured, and other vulnerable groups.
