Mashable's knives? Out. Mashable's gems? Uncut. Mashable's taste in memes? Good.

The "My X? Y" meme is back in full force, and though it's one of the most simplistic memes around, it never really seems to get old.

The meme gained popularity back in November 2019, after Vulture Staff Writer and fellow Knives Out stan, Hunter Harris announced on Twitter, "my knives?? now u KNOW they're out."

Harris has fired off several other tweets about knives being out, and she even brought the comedic crime thriller, Uncut Gems, into the picture.

Before you knew it, Twitter was flooded with "My knives? Out." and "My gems? Uncut." tweets. And it wasn't long before people went rogue and started inserting other movies, television shows, and book titles into the simple, usually three-word, prompt.

While "My X? Y" tweets have popped up every now and again over the past eight months, they've recently made a strong comeback and let to a whole lot of quote tweeting.

Though Harris isn't the only person who's utilized the format and made it go viral, she remains largely associated with the meme to this day. Lionsgate and Knives Outeven paid tribute to the "My Knives? Out." tweet that helped propel the trend forward.

Mashable reached out to Hunter Harris to find out how she feels about the gorgeous evolution of her tweet format, and we'll update this article if we hear back.
