Find My network support for Apple's AirPods Pro and Max isn't coming with iOS 15 as previously announced.
This is according to Apple's own iOS 15 features page, which says the feature is coming "later this fall."
"Use the Find My network to get an approximate location of your missing AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. This will help you get within Bluetooth range so you can play a sound and locate them," Apple's page says. However, an asterisk denoting that the feature is coming later was not there in a preview version of the document, which was replaced in early September.
This was first discovered by Michael Burkhardt (via MacRumors), who tweeted about the change Monday.
iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum—$599.00
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 10.9" 64GB Wi-Fi Tablet—$142.49(List Price $219.99)
Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen With MagSafe USB-C Charging Case—$168.99(List Price $249.00)
Fitbit Charge 6 Fitness Tracker With 6-Months Membership—$99.95(List Price $159.95)
Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS, 41mm, Midnight, S/M, Sports Band)—$279.99(List Price $399.00)
While the feature might seem minor, the ability to use Find My to find your missing AirPods is arguably one of Find My's best usage cases — a notion which I base on consistently being unable to find my earbuds.
MacRumors notes that several other iOS 15 features aren't coming until later this year, including SharePlay and Legacy Contacts. The iOS 15 itself will become widely available on Tuesday, Sept. 21, alongside iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and watchOS 8.
