Johnny Depp's next starring role in the Notorious B.I.G. film City of Liesmay not actually happen.
SEE ALSO:The best places to find human kindness on the internetCity of Lieswas pulled from U.S. release by Global Road Entertainment after Depp, one of the movie's stars, was sued by a location manager for punching him in the face. The movie was originally supposed to come out in early September, but has now been delayed indefinitely.
Global Road Entertainment didn't respond to a request for comment, but it's quite possible that the film was pulled from the release schedule due to all the negative press around Depp.
There was the incident mentioned above where Depp allegedly punched a City of Lieslocation manager back in April after said manager told Depp he had to wrap up before they went over the time allotted for their filming permit. Depp was sued afterward.
Following that altercation, Rolling Stoneran a profile on Depp that didn't pull any punches, recounting stories of how Depp would allegedly get violent when intoxicated and brought up his relationship with Amber Heard in which he physically attacked her, according to Heard's friend and supported by photographs.
After the two divorced, they released a statement which included this nugget: “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
The controversy around Depp came up around the announcement of his casting in the movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwaldas well.
Maybe the folks behind City of Lieswill try to reshoot some scenes with a new actor replacing Depp if they don't want to drop the movie entirely. Because at this point, why not erase abusive people from the public sphere? It seems pretty reasonable.
