Billionaire Elon Musk has a way of kicking up a storm on Twitter from time to time, and he did it again on Tuesday morning by weighing in on Trump's widely condemned policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Musk tweeted a link to the song "Shelter" by the xx and then followed that up with a rather noncommittal, "I hope the kids are okay."

The "kids" Musk is talking about became a bit more clear in subsequent tweets.

Suffice to say, no, the kids are not ok -- just as some of his followers pointed out. They're very much not alright.

In another tweet in the exchange, Musk -- who was born in South Africa and came to the U.S. during college -- says he's "enquiring on many channels" about the detainment camps. What exactly he plans to do, if anything, though isn't detailed.

He did take a moment to both mention he's a top donor to the ACLU and supports their work, while pointing out that he doesn't necessarily support them on every single issue.

The ACLU confirmed that Musk is, indeed, a "top donor" but didn't offer any other details.

At least he's moved on from attacking the media and is using his platform to bring attention to a national crisis. But it remains to be seen if he'll take more meaningful action, like joining his followers at protest march.
