LOS ANGELES – Netflix knows you’re hooked and exactly when you got hooked to its shows.。
The Los Gatos-based streaming service on Wednesday released the latest data unveiling “hooked episodes,” a.k.a. the “specific episodes that take watchers from indecision to infatuation” for a handful of shows available to stream from the platform.。

For Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey and UAE, data were compiled from January 2016 to August 2016. 。
Hooked episodes were first identified by country and then averaged to create the global hooked episode. 。
The overall findings suggest that viewing behavior -- and fandom -- is quite universal, because viewers get hooked on certain episodes and identify with similar storylines. 。
“We've always believed there is a universality to great stories. The internet allows us to share these stories with a global audience and what we see from the data is how similar our members watch and respond,” Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix, said in a statement. “The hooked findings give us confidence that there is an appetite for original and unique content all over the world."。

Don’t be fooled though: The hooked episodes and shows themselves aren’t indicators of how popular they actually are. They have no correlation to total viewership numbers or season attrition –- because Netflix doesn’t release those, remember?
